Abstract

This paper presents the construction of a theoretical model that explains the congruence between the
foundation of an organization and the business mission. For the construction of the model, the analysis
and the scoring of the secondary information collected were analyzed, followed by validation by experts
through the concordance analysis following the Kappa test, and then applied to 20 SMEs in Antioquia
(Colombia) . In the evaluation of the model it was found that 80% of the companies show congruence
between the foundation reasons that drove the creation of company, and its mission statement, expressed
in its strategic and constitutive documents. The degree of congruence is 91%, and calculated taking into
account the number of keywords that appear in the mission and are associated with each foundation.
