Proposal of a Systemic Model for Tourism Research

Abstract

Building lines of research is a job that requires theoretical foundation, not only from the perspective of the academic program that supports it, but especially from an epistemological basis. This article has the purpose of serving as an orientation framework, which can not only be applied to the Tourism and Hotel Business Administration Program of the Popular University of Cesar, in Colombia, but also for those who are interested in the construction of lines of research, with systemic approaches, in related programs. The research problem is how to systematically base the research lines of the program, taking into account the master document, with its potential lines of research, and the work of a self-assessment and research team for the construction of operational lines. A systemic model was built, which would allow the integration of the potential lines of research of the Tourism and Hotel Business
Administration Program of the Popular University of Cesar, through a metatheoretical integration of systemic approaches, in order to generate a macroline of research. The type of research was qualitative, with a hermeneutical basis, for which this work is a case study, serving the dialogical method as a metatheoretical integrator, and using documentary review as a technique, and the participation of teachers and researchers of the program. as a focus group. The result was the elaboration of a macro-line of research on Structure, organization and function of tourism and hotel systems, which has already been delivered, and which will allow the development of potential lines of research: “environment, biodiversity and habitat”; “economy, innovation, competitiveness and sustainability”; “social studies on science, technology and other forms of knowledge”, and “politics, State and power relations”.
