Abstract

This article, based on “The inventory of functions of Volunteer work –IFV”, determines which variables motivate volunteers in Colombia to carry out activities related to volunteer work. The following six dimensions were taken into consideration: values, career, social background, comprehension, protection, and improvement. An analysis of the results shows that volunteers in Colombia are mainly motivated because they can work for a cause which is important for them, and because they can help the less fortunate. These are variables which fall under the category of values.
