Resumen

El objetivo de esta investigación es la identificación de factores de éxito y ventajas de la integración de la innovación abierta en las organizaciones, estructurando los hallazgos dentro de un marco conceptual para la innovación organizativa, que relaciona cuatro constructos considerados como determinantes de la innovación: Liderazgo, Facilitadores de gestión, Procesos de negocio y Modelo de negocio. Con este propósito se revisaron de forma sistemática los artículos publicados con el título “Innovación abierta” en la base de datos ISI Web of Science, desde 1900 hasta 2013. Los resultados evidencian que a pesar del creciente interés por el uso de un enfoque abierto para innovar en las organizaciones, en las publicaciones académicas pareciera no existir una estructura conceptual con orientación práctica sobre el tópico. Esta investigación pretende abordar esta brecha a través de la realización de una revisión sistemática sobre innovación abierta, orientando los resultados con efectos prácticos para la toma de decisiones. Los resultados muestran que la innovación abierta contribuye a la reducción de costos de I+D, a la mejora en la gestión del conocimiento, a la reducción de tiempos de lanzamiento de productos y al aprovechamiento estratégico de las capacidades organizativas. Investigaciones futuras sobre el tema pretenden validar la aplicación de la innovación abierta en distintos contextos organizativos y profundizar en el estudio de la propiedad intelectual en los esquemas abiertos para la innovación.
