Notes on the postgraduate course in health and safety in the work at National Polytechnic Institute

Abstract

The postgraduate course in general and in Mexico is relatively young. Only 76, 74 and 69 years until 2016, which were taught for the first time the specialty, master’s and doctorate, respectively. Since then, the national enrollment has been increasing, although not equitably, because what is taught is the mastery, while the least is the doctorate. Objective: The pretension to announce some notes about the postgraduate, particularly on occupational safety and health, and specifically on the MSOSH (Master of Science in Occupational Health, Safety and Hygiene) taught by the National Polytechnic Institute, with the idea of Promote their presence and relevance, but without impairing their context of social and academic reality. Methods: In addition to the scrutiny of some reports of expert literature on the subject, MSOSH records of the last 28 years were used. Results. The MSOSH had beginnings faltering and, therefore, irregular during the first 20 years of its existence. However, as of 2007, terminal efficiency had an increase of 72.1%. Conclusions: The postgraduate in general, and the Occupational Safety and Health in particular, faces important points of improvement, including terminal efficiency and unemployment.
