Factores que influyen en la inteligencia emocional de los miembros de una empresa familiar

En el área de empresa familiar se ha resaltado la importancia de la gestión de las emociones, más aún en aquellos casos donde un miembro de la familia se desempeña en los tres subsistemas: familia, propiedad y empresa. A pesar de ello, poco se ha investigado la manera en que las emociones afectan a las organizaciones familiares. Esta investigación, basada en el estudio a profundidad de un caso colombiano, explora la razón por la cual la inteligencia emocional de los miembros de una empresa familiar varía en cada uno de los subsistemas. La información se analizó en los cuatro componentes de la inteligencia emocional y en los tres subsistemas de la empresa familiar. Los hallazgos indican que la inteligencia emocional de una persona se puede ver afectada por múltiples factores como: comunicación, situación marital, experiencias emocionales, expresividad, cultura, relaciones con familia política, apoyo a miembros de la familia, capacidad de relacionamiento, de conciliación, iniciativa, planeación de propiedad y formación de propietarios, confianza y presencia de externos en la empresa, empoderamiento, educación y formación directiva. Estos factores pueden afectar uno o varios subsistemas y a un individuo o al grupo con que interactúa. Esta investigación destaca la importancia de las dinámicas interpersonales y las emociones en la viabilidad a largo plazo de una empresa familiar.
