Abstract

Modern man believes himself to be the master and possessor of nature. His dominion based on scientific and technical progress has led him to a destruction, devastation and desolation of the earth. This research article argues that both Heidegger and Nietzsche come to conceive, each in his own way, that the occurrence of nature and the occurrence of culture are intimately related and that it is necessary to return to the meaning of the earth, reverse the values of modern man and deepen the values of preservation and care of the earth. Methodologically, a critical reading of the authors is made on the basis of their reflections on the earth. In Heidegger, in “The Origin of the Work of Art” and in Nietzsche in “Thus Spoke Zarathustra”. It was found that both thinkers make a critique of the foundations of capitalism. It is concluded that both Nietzsche and Heidegger propose to invert the values of modern man, of scientific technical progress and of capitalism in order to find ways of inhabiting and being that allow the earth to open and illuminate itself as it is, that is, preserving and conserving it.
