Two teachers of San Bernardino de Bosa School (Bogotá, Colombia) have summoned upon the rethinking process of What, How and Where of their pedagogical practice. This was due to the disarticulation of the knowledge “taught” in their Social, and Natural science classrooms in regard to real life; along with the almost total annulment of “other” type of knowledge not recognized as valid in the Western discourse, the distance between two scientific discourses that seem exclusive, as well as the low perceptible “results” of their teaching practice.
It is because of this dissertation that the Seminar of Socio-ecology emerged. An interdisciplinary pedagogical exercise in which both sciences gathered around four articulating axes: botanical expedition, diversity, climate crisis and food; contextualizing in this way the scientific knowledge with the reality of their educational community in order to give significance to the knowledge shared in the school. In pursuance of this, there have been structured four moments of knowledge that constitute the methodology of this seminar: What is it about? (Let’s read!), what do the experts say? (Deciphering the reading), what do my peers contribute with? (Sharing of knowledge), and what did I learn? (Making memory).
The integrative vision of the seminar allows its planning and execution based on the curricular standards of the areas, so that the participants approach natural and social phenomena from an articulating, systemic and critical perspective.
