Job performance of physicians graduates of the Universidad Libre’s alternative medicine diploma program – Cali campus

BACKGROUND: In recent years the increase in alternative therapy health services has led universities and governments to become interestedin studying and legislating them, but there are few studies on the job performance of physicians and their current situation in the country.OBJECTIVES: Survey job performance prevalence of physicians graduates of the Universidad Libre’s alternative medicine diploma programs – Cali campus. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A survey was designed and implemented in the target population through email and face to face surveying. It consisted of sociodemographic and labor variables; inclusion and exclusion criteria were defined. The tested sample was determined by accessibility and from 83 professionals eligible for the survey, 71 physicians were contacted, and for the remaining 12, authorization was not obtained or they could not be located. RESULTS: The majority of professionals are between 30 to 49 years old, 51% have obtained a clinical or administrative specialization, 69% work in the city of Cali, 54% offer a mixed physician service, and 72.35% have practiced homotoxicology. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS: The Universidad Libre in Cali offers various diploma programs in alternative medicine graduates at the national level but especially in regions near the Valle del Cauca. It has been perceived that there is an increasing number of health professionals who are putting integrative medicine into practice. It is recommended that further studies be done at a clinical and socio-cultural level with the aim of enriching health sector information.
