Inovação frugal e outras inovações relacionadas: delimitando fronteiras conceituais para o contexto latino-americano

Há mais de duas décadas, a literatura sobre inovação e design em contextos de restrição tem crescido rapidamente. A pesquisa e a prática neste campo têm dado origem a conceitos e abordagens estimulantes para enfrentar os desafios socioecológicos e econômicos contemporâneos. O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar e analisar os elementos que distinguem e vinculam a Inovação Frugal (IF) a outras abordagens, como a Inovação de Base (IB), Inovação na Base da Pirâmide (IBoP), Inovação Inclusiva, Inovação Jugaad (IJ), Inovação Social (IS), Inovação Sustentável e Inovação Low-Tech (Lo-TEK). Em primeiro lugar, é apresentado o significado da IF, acompanhado de três estudos de caso frugais de alto impacto. Em seguida, são apresentados os resultados de uma revisão da literatura (conceitos e características), cujos dados foram analisados por meio de técnicas de análise qualitativa descritiva. Por fim, destacam-se as perspectivas obtidas e a relevância de delimitar fronteiras conceituais claras entre essas abordagens, a fim de vislumbrar sua apropriação no contexto latino-americano.
