This article seeks to identify the determinant factors and trends in the university research results transfer towards the productive sector. It is a review of academic articles on the subject that have been published between 1994 and 2014, and also a collection of international cases was carried out. The identified factors were grouped in: university approach, mechanisms and liaison units, profile and position of the actors, research and transfer process, internal capabilities of the university and surrounding conditions. Regarding the trends in the developed nations there is a step towards formal transfer relations between several organizations, especially based on private funding.
