Commuting and inhabiting part of the Piedemonte Llanero Route: perceptions of visitors and residents on Proximity tourism

This research aims to examine the relationship between the awareness of the proximity route Villavicencio - Restrepo (Meta) and the decision of persons to repeat the exploration of the territory, considering the economic disparities of the consumers. It also seeks to know the perceptions of local tourism actors in relation to proximity tourism and how this activity has impacted their economic and social conditions. The treatment and interpretation of the information were based on a hybrid methodology. At the level of awareness, the route is present in the territorial memory of the locals who visit it, but it is the low-income visitors who consider that it is an accessible option that allows them to approach cultural practices and enjoy the landscape, and therefore, they show a greater interest in returning. The route is perceived by the locals as a source of income, but its touristic exploitation brings problems that affect coexistence and the environment.
