Evaluation of the quality of the programs of economy in Colombia

Review to the tests ECAES of 2004 and 2008 and their relation with the condition of accreditation of programs

Abstract

This paper analyzes the quality of education of Colombian undergraduate Economics programs under the accreditation system for higher education. Using 2004 and 2008 results of Ecaes test, it is found that only few programs improved their quality between these years, while most of them have maintained its academic quality. Also, there is evidence that the undergraduate program accreditation process has a positive effect on the test results, but principally for those programs that had obtained it recently.
