Background: Burnout Syndrome is related to a response to chronic stress at work; it is a three-dimensional syndrome characterized by emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and reduced personal fulfillment.
Objective: to correlate workload, individual factors, and predictors of Burnout Syndrome during the SARS-CoV-2 contingency in home health care and telemedicine physicians in Medellin, 2020.
Methods: Cross-sectional study, a questionnaire was designed for sociodemographic variables, Burnout was measured using the Maslach Burnout Inventory - Human Services Survey.
Results: 64 physicians were surveyed, 9.4% were found to be at high risk, 7.8% at low risk and 82.8% at intermediate risk of presenting Burnout syndrome. In addition, it was found that 57.8% presented emotional fatigue, 34.4% scored depersonalization and 26.6% had low personal fulfillment. Statistically significant data were also found in relation to marital status, type of employment relationship, number of hours worked, type of housing, length of service in the profession, among other variables.
Conclusion: It was found that emotional fatigue increases the more overtime hours worked during the day or month, as well as the fact of being single. On the other hand, depersonalization was related to the type of relationship and the number of hours worked by the professional, with the opposite being true.
