Empoderando Habilidades Diversas: Uma Versão Revisada do Framework DesignABILITY para o Design de Tecnologias Assistivas

Resumo

Este artigo apresenta a estrutura DesignABILITY revisada, composta por 5 etapas, para aprimorar o desenvolvimento de tecnologias assistivas (TA) para pessoas com deficiências motoras e de fala graves. Introduz-se uma etapa de "Planejamento de Empoderamento" para focar no aproveitamento do potencial do usuário, em vez de apenas nas necessidades imediatas. A estrutura foi validada por meio do "MorSpeech", um sistema inovador que integra um aplicativo multiplataforma e o hardware ESP32, utilizando entradas alternativas como vegetais e recipientes de água. O recrutamento para tais estudos é desafiador devido a complexas considerações éticas, ampla diversidade etiológica e à necessidade de protocolos de teste personalizados, adaptados às capacidades individuais. Consequentemente, três participantes com condições diversas, como Esclerose Lateral Amiotrófica (ELA) e paralisia cerebral, avaliaram o protótipo final. Os resultados mostraram uma taxa de conclusão da tarefa de 100% para dois participantes. Embora restrições significativas de tempo de aplicação tenham limitado a conclusão do terceiro participante, o protótipo demonstrou adaptabilidade a deficiências neurológicas profundas. Este trabalho demonstrou a eficácia da estrutura DesignABILITY revisada na criação de tecnologias assistivas que empoderam usuários com diversas habilidades, enfatizando a empatia ao longo de todo o processo de design. Além disso, esta pesquisa destaca como o design iterativo pode superar diversas limitações para melhorar o bem-estar geral.
