Abstract

The purpose of this article is to present a project aimed at decreasing water usage from the city water supply network based on the use of gray water. It proposes the design of an automatic electronic transfer system that makes it possible to use gray water from showers, wash basins, washing machines, and clothes-washing sinks, thus allowing it to be reused for household chores such as housecleaning, replenishing toilet tanks, and watering plants. It shows the process of developing and designing an electronic control system and provides a description of the variables identified, together with an explanation of the system implemented. It also describes the devices used, such as a water level sensor, a power control system, and a processing circuit. It also explains a schematic of the control system after implementation. The last section presents the results and operational tests of the system, showing the functionality of the electronic water-saving application, which offers an alternative that encourages the use of sustainable solutions and raises environmental awareness regarding the rational use of this important resource.
