El uso de los instrumentos económicos para la gestión ambiental

The study and analysis of such complex matters as sustainability, by its own nature of multidimensional character, requires analytical tools that got the different sides of the problem, including the visions and interests of the participating players, not always coincident. This paper wants to show that the majority of the economic tools used in environmental management don’t get that complexity and that these tools are one sided criteria. Because of that they are not adequate for decision making. But many of these tools could support the conservation and the sustainable use of these resources. As an option it showcases the use of the ample criteria analysis, as an adequate decision tool on problems that include social and economical conflicts and environment conservation objectives with a vast range of measure scales (Physical, monetary, qualitatives). In this case it has more weight the decision making process than the result itself and it doesn’t matters an optimal solution but a compromise solution between the different players acting.
