Perception of biological risk and safety conditions in nursing auxiliaries of the Association of Indigenous Communities of Northern Cauca (ACIN) 2015

The intervention of occupational hazards, the human factor and its relation with the perception of risk is one of the elements that deserves greater importance for the diagnosis, planning, intervention and cyclical evaluation of the work environment, where are key elements the different ethnicities and cultures which are important characteristics of the group of nursing assistants of the IPS-I ACIN as they condition behavior choices for addressing risks to which they are exposed raising the need to assess how they are perceived. Objective: Evaluate the perception of biological risks and safety conditions in nursing assistants working in the IPS ACIN in the second quarter of 2015. Methodology: Descriptive, cross-sectional quantitative approach, population of 117 nursing assistants. Materials and methods: The EDRP-T instrument (Dimensional Perceived Risk Assessment at Work) was applied to evaluate the attributes of the risks arising from Security Conditions and Biohazard. Results: It was evident that most nursing assistants evaluated belong to the indigenous ethnic group, who have a very low level of knowledge about the risks arising from Security Conditions and Biohazard, which conditions the other attributes that were evaluated Conclusion: Nurses reflected in high levels of fear, possible overconfidence against the unknown (preventability, control) and inaccurate assessment of attributes such as catastrophic potential and severity of the damage, which
