The increase of vehicles in cities requires road infrastructure that guarantees efficient, safe and comfortable mobility, both at the vehicular level and at the pedestrian level. It is known that traffic light intersections are spaces that allow the safe movement of the pedestrian from one point to another and give the vehicles the possibility of changing direction, such as left turns (GI) or U-turns; completion of these maneuvers alters the traveling times of the vehicles in circulation, saturating the intersection with greater intensity. It is important to identify the impact generated by the GI in the intersections with a traffic light phase created for this purpose, for that reason reference is made to Carrera 7, on this corridor there are 40 intersections with 53 GI traffic lights; taking into account this index is established as a point of study, one of the intersections with greater vehicular flow and level of service (NS) F as it is the Carrera 7 x street 116; also indicates a proposal of reduction to two phases of the existing traffic control, whereby said intersection would stop a theoretical NS.
