Abstract

FabLabs (Fabrication Laboratory) are defined as spaces for producing physical objects on a personal or local scale that group machines controlled by computers, capable of manufacturing almost anything we can imagine.

The assembly of a fab-lab for the Farallones area is proposed in the context of the Holistic Health Social Foundation, as an undertaking of the Institute of Natural Cybernetics, being a tool to promote innovation processes in solidarity cooperation for science, technology, and innovation (CS+CT&I), through the development of prototypes that strengthen the protocols for the creation of companies and in parallel the training of human talent, for example, by forming solidarity work teams for the exchange of experiences, knowledge, and ideas that solve multiple problems and improve the living and working conditions of the inhabitants of the Farallones territory.
FabLabs can embrace the collaboration of the local community, be the initiators of new projects and businesses, and are a test bed for the future of manufacturing; a future that revolves around locally distributed manufacturing, co-design, and collaboration.
