Consumo de fibra dietaria, por día, en niños con estreñimiento funcional y síndrome de intestino irritable

Resumen

Los principales desórdenes gastrointestinales funcionales (DGF) pediátricos son estreñimiento funcional (EF) y síndrome de intestino irritable (SII). Se recomienda en niños, la edad más 5 gramos de fibra dietaria diaria (FDD). El objetivo de la investigación es determinar el consumo de FDD y sus asociaciones. Se trata de un estudio de casos y controles. Fueron incluidos 8 niños con EF y 15 con SII según los Criterios de Roma III y 46 sanos. Por recordatorio de 24 horas se determinó el consumo de FDD. Se incluyeron variables sociodemográficas y antropométricas. El análisis estadístico incluyó medidas de tendencia central; t-student, chi cuadrado, y prueba exacta de Fisher, análisis uni y multivariados, siendo una p<0,05 significativa. Los 69 niños (10,7±1,6 años de edad; 41 masculinos); 56,5% malnutridos; consumieron 1,2±0,8 gr de FDD. No hubo diferencias significativas en niños con EF, SII y variables sociodemográficas, antropométricas y consumo de FDD. Los niños con EF, SII y sanos, tuvieron consumo de FDD subóptimo. A menor cantidad de FDD, mayor oportunidad de presentar DGF (OR=1,31 IC95%=0,32-6,52 p>0,05). En conclusión, el consumo de FDD fue subóptimo en niños con EF, SII y sanos con mayor oportunidad de presentar DGF cuando se consume menor cantidad de FDD.
