Resumen

El cambio climático es una realidad y la reducción de las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero (GEI), por parte de los países, es una obligación política con el planeta. Esto, representa una oportunidad para modernizar y mejorar la competitividad de las empresas en el futuro. El propósito de este estudio es analizar cómo una mayor responsabilidad ambiental, así como el control y la reducción de las emisiones de GEI, se relacionan con el desempeño económico corporativo. Se utilizaron datos de la Encuesta Anual Manufacturera de Colombia (EAM) en el periodo 2009-2018. Se empleó un modelo econométrico propuesto por Cucchiella et al. (2017). Los resultados muestran que la buena gestión ambiental de las empresas se asocia con un mejor desempeño económico. Se recomienda que, las políticas ambientales empresariales deben evitar medidas drásticas y centrarse en garantizar un mercado que gradualmente elimine a empresas poco competitivas y grandes emisoras de GEI.
