Density and refractive indices of binary mixtures sulfolane+toluene: correlation and prediction of excess molar volumes
Keywords:
Excess molar volumes, equation of Redlich-Kister, refractive indices, prediction, sulfolane, tolueneAbstract
Densities and refractive indices of binary mixturesof sulfolane with toluene at (303.15, 308.15, 313.15and 318.15) K in the whole composition range weremeasured, with the experimental data calculatedexcess molar volumes and the deviationof the refractive indices , were fitted to anorder fourth polynomial equation of Redlich-Kister. The prediction of excess molar volume of303.15 K was performed with experimental dataof refractive indices using three coupled equationsto six mixing rules for calculating the refractiveindices: Lorentz-lorenz, Dale-Gladstone, Eykman,Arago-Biot, Newton y Oster, the results show thatthis procedure from refractive indices is useful inpredicting the negative excess molar volumes ofmixtures of sulfolane with toluene.
