Presently, cuban economy needs to be more effi cient and more competitive to be inserted in dynamic markets in order to reach utility levels required by the country. In this regard, it is essential to increase effi ciency in organizational design of the companies as a result of an appropriate combination and use of the resources they possess. For such a reason, the present investigation has as objective to develop a procedure for the diagnosis of the system of general organization (SOG) in companies under managerial improvement. The procedure has been based in the literature review of the topic and the use of methods and tools derived from managerial sciences. Its application allows to diagnose the state of the SOG according to the parameters of organizational design of Mintzberg and to detect the main gaps that prevent the execution of the requirements established by the direction system and managerial administration of Cuba (SDGE)
