Abstract

Sustainability is one of the main concerns worldwide, especially in the context of the creation of new small businesses. In the case of rural contexts, ventures must face multiple barriers and adverse elements, which affect individuals and communities, as well as the design of their strategies and their productivity. The study aimed to evaluate the sustainability of a group of enterprises, with the premise of advancing the identification of the necessary guidelines to improve their conditions, production model, and results, as well as cultural and environmental conservation. A qualitative investigation with a hermeneutic design was carried out, and the main results indicated that the ventures were essentially sustainable but had to address various aspects. The study allowed us to conclude on a group of adjustment needs, dimensions to strengthen, and indications for improving social activity in the area.
