Background: The organizational climate is the human and physical environment in which work is carried out and has direct repercussions on the behavior of people in their work. Perceptions of this may vary subject to various aspects around labor dynamics such as hiring modalities.
Objective: To describe the characteristics of the organizational climate perceived by workers according to the current hiring modalities.
Methods: case study using mixed methods (quantitative and qualitative). In the first phase, quantitative cut, a survey with Likert-type response scale was used; in the second phase, of qualitative type, semi-structured interviews using the technique of content analysis. The study was carried out with workers linked to a technology solutions and software development company for their client companies, located in Cali- Valle, with three types of hiring modalities: indefinite term contract, provision of services, and learning contract SENA.
Results: there are some important differences in the perceptions of the organizational climate depending on the modality of hiring, mainly in the dimensions of compensation, career plan, training and development, and leadership.
Conclusion: the organizational climate presents some differences and similarities regarding the perceptions that employees build according to the type of contract or type of contract. Thus, it is evident that the type of contract influences the organizational climate perceived by employees presenting significant differences, even if they are within the same organization.
