Innovación frugal y otras innovaciones similares en el contexto latinoamericano: una revisión integrativa de la literatura

Resumen

El estudio presentado en este artículo tuvo como objetivo identificar interrelaciones conceptuales que asemejan y distinguen la Innovación Frugal (IF) de la Innovación de Base (IB), la Innovación en la Base de la Pirámide (IBoP), la Innovación Inclusiva, la Innovación Jugaad (IJ), la Innovación Social (IS), la Innovación Sustentable y la Innovación Low-Tech (Lo-TEK). Esta investigación se justifica por la superposición conceptual entre los citados enfoques que ha fomentado su uso intercambiable y análogo en el estado del arte, especialmente en estudios sobre contextos de restricción y economías emergentes. Para este trabajo exploratorio y conceptual cualitativo, se realizó una revisión integrativa de la literatura, combinando términos en inglés, español, portugués y francés. Para tal se utilizaron operadores booleanos en Science Direct, Scopus, Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC) y Portal de Periódicos CAPES y Google Scholar. Un total de 56 documentos, publicados entre 2000 y 2025 (con destaque para 2016), fueron seleccionados. Para tratamiento de los datos se utilizó la técnica de análisis descriptivo cualitativo, mediante una dinámica comparativa e iterativa. Los hallazgos permitieron demarcar las categorías de IF, así como identificar convergencias/divergencias entre ellas y las innovaciones analizadas. El estudio también reveló el potencial de la IF como vector para la generación de proyectos adecuados a las particularidades locales y regionales de América Latina.
