Abstract

In this article, we used the maximum instantaneous flow measurements, executed by the Empresa de Acueducto y Alcantarillado de Bogotá EAAB-ESP in different zones of the city of Bogota DC, to compare them with the norm NTC 1500, in order to validate and adjust, the use of the unit of consumption proposed by Hunter and adopted by said norm. The measurements made by the EAAB-ESP were detailed and considered multiple aspects such as: number of inhabitants and hydraulic points, type of housing, patterns of consumption, frequency and use of sanitary appliances according to the type of housing unit. The calculations of the unit of consumption from the records of maximum flows in houses and apartments of the different zones of Bogota DC, showed that they are smaller than the value of the unit of consumption used by the norm, therefore, a Correction methodology for these housing units.
