Abstract

The objective of this article is to make an analytical approach of the participative democracy since the Colombian constitution of 1991. Firstly, the democracy as a government way is going to be studied from the conceptual, thoracal and historical point of view to provide greater inputs in understanding the evolution of participatory democracy and its current constitutional, legal and jurisprudential regulation. Finally, it’s studied the main mechanisms of citizen participation of the political nature presented by the 1991 constituent is addressed.

    Lawyer and specialist in Administrative Law from the Universidad Libre, Doctor in Law from the  Universidad Alfonso X El Sabio of Spain. University professor and lecturer in Constitutional Law. Among his most important responsibilities, he has been dean of law and sectional rector of the Universidad Libre, associate judge of the Constitutional Court, of the National Electoral Council and of the Disciplinary Chamber of the Superior Council of the Judiciary. Member of the Colombian Institute of Procedural Law. Professor at Universidad Católica de Colombia.
