The thermal treatment service for the metal mechanical industry in Cal

Abstract

This article describes the findings of a research work aimed at identifying the need for an efficient vendor in the metallurgical industry in Cali and Yumbo who is able to provide thermal treatment services, which are usually outsourced to vendors in Medellín and Bogota because of the deficient quality of local vendors. This generates an increase of costs and times associated with travel which, in turns, hinders productivity and competitiveness in the metallurgical sector. This study involved conducting in-depth interviews with purchasing managers and administering surveys to metallurgical companies that hire thermal treatment services. Most of the interviewees and respondents voiced their dissatisfaction with the service they are being provided at present and expressed the need to have a better service available.
