Agricultural insurance, equity strategy for the colombian agrarian sector

Abstract

Some reflections on the progress and importance of agricultural insurance in agricultural production are presented in the article, also the impact of extreme weather events on the profitability of food production and the need to establish mechanisms to ensure protection shown commercial food production. Likewise shows the possibilities and limitations of the implementation of agricultural insurance in patterns of family and corporate agriculture in Colombia. It aims to show the influence of these uncertain about the behavior of some market systems. As prominent feature is our origin and early experiences of agricultural insurance in Colombia, its evolution and consolidation of its legal structure. Finally the main practical applications of agricultural insurance in the country are presented.
