The study takes as its source Diary of an Argentinian prostitute, by Claudia Minoliti, that tells the story of an immigrant prostitute in Germany. An analysis of the emotional management of the protagonist, taking as parameters Arlie Hochschild’s sociology of emotions and Konstantin Stalinavski’s theater’s system. This explores a type of dramaturgical analysis applied to the story on prostitution, using the traditional interpretative method. This paper shows the tension and complementarity of the worlds of the prostitute, suggesting a profile that integrates the commodification of sexual service payment with emotional management. This demonstrates that the prostitute is not an inert being, but that she is active in her profession and builds an appropriate identity for the simulation needed to serve customers and walk outside the brothel. It aims to explore a methodology that works with the emotional dramaturgical approach, little present in the sociological literature, and thereby seeks to contribute to the sociology of emotions with emotional management categories from the naturalistic theatrical performance.
