GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS
I. GENERAL GUIDELINES - INGENIARE JOURNAL
Ingeniare is a journal created for the publication of research results in different areas of engineering and related sciences, and is issued biannually. Ingeniare contributes to spread and exchange knowledge in the national and international settings, opening a space for the visibility of scientific production, while seeking consolidation as a recognized source of inquiry within the academic and scientific community.
II. PAPER TYPES
In order to adhere to the scientific quality criteria required by the Editorial Committee of Ingeniare Journal, the papers submitted must comply with the following typology:
- Research paper. A document that presents the original and unpublished production, derived from research or review processes under strict ethical commitment. Research papers are subclassified as follows:
- Scientific and Technological Research Paper: A document that comprehensively presents the original results of completed research projects. The typical structure used consists of six important sections: Summary, Introduction, Methodology, Results, Discussion and Conclusions.
- Review paper: A document resulting from a completed research where the results of published or unpublished investigations on a field of science or technology are discussed, systematized and integrated, in order to account for the advances and development trends. It is characterized by providing a careful literature review of at least 50 references.
- Short paper: A brief document that presents preliminary or partial original results of scientific or technological research, which generally require quick disclosure.
III. SPECIFICATIONS
Papers submitted for publication in this Journal must be sent to the link in the OJS: https://revistas.unilibre.edu.co/index.php/ingeniare, along with a cover letter from the author(s) signed and addressed to the Editorial Committee of the Journal, including the full title of the work and type of paper, name of the project the author(s) work(s) in (if the author is a researcher) and name of the research group to which the author(s) belong(s). The letter must certify the originality and unpublished nature of the paper, its exclusivity for the Ingeniare Journal, as well as the explicit statement of the author(s) agreeing to the ethical policy of the journal.
IV. PROCEDURE FOR DELIVERY AND PUBLICATION OF PAPERS
- RECEPTION:
The paper must be delivered, in printed format (original and two copies) and in magnetic media (MS-Word file for Windows, and likewise for tables and graphics in MS-Excel), to the Journal Editor, who performs a preliminary evaluation with the Editorial Committee. If it is considered relevant to the purpose and scope of the journal, it will be submitted to peer review.
- EVALUATION:
The Journal Editor will send the various papers to peer reviewers under the double-blind system, so that they issue a judgment about the quality of the document, as follows: Publishable paper, publishable paper with corrections by the author or rejected paper. The Editorial Committee will consider these judgments for publication or rejection. In any case, the editor will notify the authors of the decision made.
- CORRECTION:
If the paper is publishable with corrections, the author will be notified of the corrections noted by the peers and must submit the amended paper again, within the period stated by the Journal Editor.
- PUBLICATION:
Once the paper is received and the corrections have been confirmed or it is a publishable paper without corrections, it is sent to the style and layout review process. During this process, the author may be contacted to verify and/or request additional corrections. Once the process has been completed, the author is notified of the final acceptance of the paper with the publication details.
V. WRITING:
Papers must comply with the following criteria:
- It must be written on letter-size (21.6 x 27.9 cm), one and a half spacing, including summary, tables, diagrams, figures and references, etc. The paper must have 2.5 cm margins on all sides.
- Papers must be written with a high level of syntactic correctness, without spelling or punctuation errors, and showing precise and clear ideas. Likewise, it must comply with an adequate level of cohesion and coherence.
- Each of the tables in the MS-Word document must be prepared in a spreadsheet, preferably MS-Excel. The author must clarify in the submission letter the source of the data and its accessibility, if requested.
- The applicable photographs to be linked to the document must be attached in a separate digital folder called Images. These must be attached in PNG or JPG format.
VI. STRUCTURE
Papers submitted to the Ingeniare Journal must have the following structure:
- Title: Arial 14 font, centered and in sustained capital letters. The title of the research, group and research line, as well as the name of the principal researcher must be referenced as footnote. The title must be written in Spanish and English.
- Full name of the author(s): Arial 12 font. Academic titles, institutional affiliation, correspondence address, and email must be specified in Arial 10 as foot note. Colombian authors must include the CvLac and ORCID link; foreign authors must include ORCID only. Information corresponding to the group and line of research to which the author belongs can also be added, if it is a research paper.
- Abstract: Arial 12 font, ranging from 150 to 200 words, written in third person and past tense. Textual citations, abbreviations and literature references must not be included in this section. It must summarize the subject of the paper, the objective of the research, the methodological approach, the main result and conclusion of the research.
- Keywords: Arial 12 font, ranging from 5 to 8 words or phrases that represent the content of the document. They should be carefully chosen so that they reflect the main research themes and objectives addressed in the paper.
- Structure of the document: Introduction, 2. Methodology, 3. Results. 4. Discussion, 5. Conclusions and 6. References. Arial 11 font and 1.0 line spacing must be used for the entire document. Each section should be titled using Arabic numerals (1.2.3…), using bold and sustained capital letters.
- Tables, Diagrams and Figures: These must be in Arial 8, bold and specify the source or clarify at the bottom of them if they were prepared by the authors of the document. (e.g. “Table 1. Name of the table. Source: Prepared by the authors”)
- Literature references: These are the texts referenced in the paper and must appear at the end of it. Each reference should be indicated in Arabic numbers enclosed in square brackets [ ] and in order of appearance in the text. Follow the IEEE standard format. (See section VII).
VII. LITERATURE REFERENCES
For the literature references, the style defined by the IEEE will be used, which uses the assignment of a consecutive Arabic number, enclosed in square brackets, according to the order of appearance within the document. This number must correspond to the source placed at the final list of literature references, arranging the information according to its nature as follows:
- Books
