Ergonomic Recommendations for Design and Use of Seat in Driver’s Workstation at Interdepartmental Transportation Buses

Abstract

The job of driving vehicles like buses for Interdepartmental transportation of passengers inherently exposes drivers to ergonomic and psychosocial risk factors, among others. Driving these vehicles loaded with passengers causes stress and musculoskeletal disorders, which are nourished and increased by routine, monotony, traffic jams, arguments with passengers, extensive work shifts, insufficient breaks, noise exposure, inadequate design of workstation and job stress for controlling the vehicle while driving. In this paper they are described some of these risk factors and recommendations for the design and use of seat for the driver are provided since it is one of the elements that contribute to the onset of adverse effects in these persons.
