Colombia has been incorporating several electric vehicles in its vehicle fleet, due to different factors, such as an emerging policy of incentives, environmental awareness, and the high cost of fuel. However, this type of vehicles still being fairly expensive. The transformation of thermic-powered automobiles (internal-combustion engine-ICE) into electric vehicles (EV) becomes an interesting option, regarding its low cost compared to the new commercial electric versions, as well as the positive environmental impact that it endures. This paper describes a methodology to convert an ICE traditional vehicle to an EV; through viewing the economic gain and the impact on greenhouse gas mitigation.
