Abstract

Introduction: Developing leadership competence is essential for fostering the capabilities of work teams within organizations. Consequently, research is needed to examine the strategic leadership profile in large Salvadoran companies.

Objective: The primary objective of this research is to determine whether leaders in large Salvadoran companies possess the traits associated with the six skills of strategic leadership.

Method: This study used a quantitative approach, a non-experimental cross-sectional design, and a descriptive-exploratory scope. Data were collected via a digital questionnaire using a Likert scale, administered to 66 managers from large companies in the San Salvador Metropolitan Area. Data were processed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) to calculate frequencies and percentages, without establishing causal relationships between age and the skills examined.

Results: Responses were predominantly favorable regarding the six strategic leadership skills. Variations observed across age groups did not follow a linear pattern and should be interpreted descriptively, particularly given that the extreme age groups comprised only six individuals and one individual, respectively.

Conclusion: The analyzed profile exhibits traits associated with the six strategic leadership skills. However, opportunities were identified to strengthen learning from mistakes, incorporate team contributions, and continuous adaptation. Age, when considered in isolation, does not explain the differences observed
