Characteristics of the articles

Articles can be written in Spanish or English, following the guidelines established by the Departamento Administrativo de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación - Min. Ciencias (Administrative Department of Science, Technology and Innovation - Min. Sciences) in its guide document for indexing issued in February 2010. The four types of articles are:

  1. scientific and technological research article: This article presents the original results of completed research projects in detail. The typical structure of this type of article consists of six main parts: introduction, methodology, results, discussion, conclusions, and references. Authors must report their original research clearly and objectively in this type of article.
  2. Research-derived reflection article: These articles present the results of completed research from the author's analytical, interpretative, or critical perspective. Rather than focusing solely on the presentation of data, these articles analyze and discuss the results more in-depth, offering a personal or critical perspective on the topic. Authors often draw on sources to support their arguments.
  3. Review article: This type of article results from completed research in which the results of previously published or unpublished research in a specific field of science or technology are analyzed, systematized, and integrated. The aim is to review advances and development trends in that field comprehensively. A review article is expected to include a comprehensive literature review citing at least 50 references.
  4. Case report: This type of article presents the results of a study on a particular situation or case to share technical and methodological experiences related to that specific case. In addition to describing the case in question, a case report usually includes an annotated systematic literature review addressing similar cases to contextualize and support the study.

Each of these types of articles has a specific purpose and structure. Authors should follow the guidelines provided by the Departamento Administrativo de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación - Min. Ciencias to ensure that their work meets the requirements set for publication based on the type of article they are writing.

Promotion of articles

The articles are promoted on the university's and the journal's social networks to disseminate the articles nationally and internationally and make them known to the academic community and the general public.
