Abstract

Objetive To evaluate the achievement of competencies from nursing students in characterization and wound management using simulation scenarios and moulages designed and made by hand. Methodology Descriptive study of evaluative type. 20 simulation scenarios were created and validated by using wound moulages. Four dimensions of wound care skills were evaluated: characterization by etiology and type, identification of healing phase, biosecurity measures and healing technique. The sub}ects were 40 students who were taking the class "Scientific Principles of Nursing Care”. Checklists with 20 indicators were used, with the levels of compliance full, partial, fair and low. Results ln most indicators of characterization and identification of stages of wound healing full compliance (96-100%) or partial (91-95%) was obtained. Acceptable compliance for biosafety (86-90%) was obtained and the compliance for healing technique was between acceptable and low (<90%). With the feedback some achievements ratios increased. Conclusion The nursing simulation scenarios using moulages, designed and made by hand, allow for the achievement nd care. The healing technique must be strengthened.
