Declaration of Publishing Ethics and Best Practices for Editors

Conflict of Interest: Revista Avances: Investigación en Ingeniería, adopts the policy where authors and publishers have the commitment to timely declare the conflict of interest that might arise during the investigation or in the review process, thus avoiding possible conflicts associated with editorial management processes.

Specific Standards for Ethical Research Practice: In Addition, Avances: Investigación en Ingeniería journal, is governed by the international standards defined by the Ethics Committee on Publication (COPE), The best Practices Guide for scientific journal editors and the resource Pack for publication Ethics (PERK), developed by the editorial group Elsevier, in order to ensure compliance with ethical standards in editorial processes.

Plagiarism: In accordance with the Colombian constitutional jurisprudence, and in accordance with the provisions of Ruling C-1118 of 2005, the creations of the intellect and those related to its dissemination and popularization, as intangible goods, have been grouped, for Legal matters in the so-called intellectual property rights, which in turn comprise copyright, industrial property rights, and scientific discovery rights, as well as other forms and manifestations of the creative capacity of the individual.

In accordance with the foregoing and with the provisions of the Constitutional Court in the Ruling T-941 A/11, in order to ensure due process, it established that it is the duty of the universities to establish clear measures and regulations in order to effectively detect, investigate, and drastically punish those who incur copyright infringement (plagiarism) behaviors. In the processes of implementation, promotion, and production of knowledge, science, technology, and innovation that Universidad Libre advances in the development of its substantial functions of education, research, and social projection, intellectual property acquires transcendental importance given its role in determining, recognizing, and guaranteeing the rights to the intellectual creations of those involved.

Therefore, the Journal Avances: Investigación en Ingeniería, has put into effect the review of the articles that start the first phase of initial evaluation, by means of the institutional tool Turnitin, which allows to verify the plagiarism or copy without references, leaving a history of the reviews and taking into account the analysis of the editor and the results shown by the tool.
