Abstract

The evolution of the concept of family has led to a broader and more diverse understanding of what constitutes family relationships. The formation of emotional bonds with non-human animals with whom we live closely gives rise to the recognition of this family form.

The general objective of this research is to analyze the evolution of the concept of family and the emergence of the multispecies family, which extends to the emotional bonds between humans and sentient animals, and to propose a constitutional reform for its proper protection in Mexico.

The research is analytical in legal terms and was conducted using a qualitative approach. At the propositional level, the research employed an analytical method, reviewing and studying different authors who demonstrate the evolution of the concept of family to identify the emergence of the multispecies family. Furthermore, the comparative method was used to recognize the protection of the multispecies family in different countries. Graphic organization tools, such as cards, were used to efficiently collect and analyze information.

Through a comprehensive analysis, significant conclusions are generated that demonstrate the need to protect family diversity in Mexico, particularly multispecies families.
