PEER REVIEW

The Editorial Committee of Libre Empresa will study each article according to the criteria of relevance, coherence, contributions to knowledge and will decide on the suitability of its application.

It is particularly interested in the following aspects:

- That the article is unpublished. At the moment of application, a declaration is requested from the authors where they guarantee that the manuscript is not in the process of evaluation by another academic journal and will not be applied until the final concept is obtained from the Editorial Committee of Libre Empresa.

- Originality / innovation of the article.

- Clarity of the text.

- Usefulness / interest for the readers.

- Scientific rigor

- Informed conclusions.

- Potential impact factor of the article, especially for research articles.

The manuscript will be reviewed by the Editorial Coordination to ensure that it complies with the requirements established in the Standards for Authors. If it does not comply with these standards, it will be returned to the author(s) for adjustment.

The selected articles will be submitted for review by two academic peers, external to the editing institution, who are experts in areas related to the Journal and who hold at least a PhD degree. The process will be double-blind, and will be supported by the evaluation guide format of articles that manages Libre Empresa. The evaluation guide document must include the evaluator's justified recommendation about the publication of the article. In case an article presents a favourable and an unfavourable concept, it will be sent to a third evaluator.  The Editorial Committee decides if the article is accepted, requires modifications (minor or major) or if it is rejected. The initial review process, between the moment of submission and the first concept, can take from 3 to 5 months. Authors whose articles require changes will have a maximum time of 1 month to make adjustments. Once the authors resubmit their article with the requested changes, it is sent for a second evaluation by the peers. Based on the comments and recommendations of the reviewer, the Editorial Committee makes a final decision on the publication of the article (this part of the process can take 2 months).

Once the articles have been accepted, they go through a spell-checking process, in which the style of each article is respected. Once the layout is established, direct communication is established with the authors, so as not to alter the original contents. The maximum period for these to approve the changes and resolve any doubts is 15 days. If the author does not resolve the doubts or corrections within the stipulated period, his/her article will be published in another edition, until the doubts or suggestions have been fully resolved.

If an article is objected to or rejected by its peers, the journal will inform the author of the results of the evaluation.

In the evaluation Libre Empresa and its evaluators adhere to international ethical standards for scientific research, adopted at the 2nd World Conference on Research Integrity-Singapore, July 22-24, 2010. (2nd World Conference on Research Integrity-Singapore)
