Abstract

Currently, protecting intellectual property rights in institutions is challenging due to the constant evolution of technology, legal complexities, and the need to balance innovation with the preservation of creative rights. This article focuses on the Universidad Libre, exploring the potential of a blockchain-based DApp to safeguard the intellectual property of researchers, professors, and students. Considering the regulatory framework of the university's Intellectual Property and Open Access Regulations, a conceptual model for the DApp is proposed. The proposal covers the design of a robust and secure architecture, a detailed analysis of the specific needs of the university community, also suggests a catalog of services and highlights the viability of streamlining administrative processes, promoting academic collaboration and managing intellectual assets. The article also examines how the use of blockchain technology could improve transparency, trust and participation in the protection of university intellectual property.
