Trends in the curricular plans of the public Accounting Program in nationally accredited public universities in the framework of education 4.0

The arrival of Industry 4.0 has generated a technological evolution that has profoundly impacted productive, economic, and commercial relationships, requiring digital skills from professionals. This research aims to diagnose the trends in the curricular plans of the Public Accounting program in accredited public universities in Colombia. A descriptive-analytical study was carried out, with a non-experimental design, in which the phenomenon and its context were observed for later analysis. The results allowed us to conclude that the curricular plans of accredited public universities do not directly involve areas such as Big Data, Data Science, and Machine Learning, which is essential in any university degree, especially in those where data is of great importance. For this reason, the country's universities should focus their efforts on integrating 4.0 technologies in the accounting development of large, medium, small, and micro companies.
