THE ADEQUACY OF THERAPEUTIC MEASURES

The Adequacy of Therapeutic Measures (AMT) implies making decisions that are made in a very unfavorable o terminal situation of the patient. It could be summarized as “stop doing” or “withdraw what has already been done”, referring to not using new techniques or removing those already used.
Concepts of patient abandonment should not be erroneously linked to the AMT, since they are not synonymous or linked. When it is decided to implement AMT, all the measures to accompany the patient and provide quality care will continue.
AMT is a decision made by the medical team, by the patient himself and by his relatives when he cannot decide due to his condition
