Prevalence of acute mal nutrition in children under the age of five in the department of córdoba, 2016-2017

Objective: through the variables it will be sought to establish an epidemiological pattern that allows to identify the population at high risk, thus achieving timely interventions. Methodology: The present study is one of retrospective descriptive type. The population and sample study were 372 cases of acute malnutrition reported to the surveillance system-SIVIGILA-from July 2016 to July 2017. Results: Reports showed that 61.85% correspond to female sex, 30.1% to children under one year with exclusive breastfeeding, as for the area 55.11% in the municipal header, as for ethnicity 93.3% belongs to others, 85.75% belong to the program of early detection of alterations in the growth and development. The most present clinical sign is edema 79.8%, most minors belong to the subsidized regime with 86.0%. The prevalence at departmental level is 0.33 in the municipality of Montería and the highest prevalence at the municipal level is 8.7 in Valencia. Conclusion: 1,000 under 0 to 59 months of age. In this context, it is necessary to implement programs of promotion and prevention which must aim to reduce the risk factors predisposing to acute malnutrition. This should be done taking into account regional characteristics
