Beliefs about diabetes and therapeutic adherence in people with DMII

Objective: To identify the levels of therapeutic adherence in patients with diabetes mellitus II (DMII), their knowledge and beliefs about the disease and its treatment. Methodology: This was a mixed study in people from a city in northeastern Mexico, a questionnaire on beliefs about adherence in people with diabetes was applied. A questionnaire of 11 open questions was also applied to 45 people diagnosed with IBD. Results: 42.22% of people have a high adherence to medication, adherence to emotional management and exercise is low (37. 77% and 28.88%, respectively ). 39. 64% of people attribute the origin of the disease to habits and 22.41% to genetic heritage. Conclusions: Diabetes mellitus is shown as an illness unknown to patients, in relation to the type and benefits of treatment. The origin of the disease is attributed to lifestyle, heredity and overweight.
