Sexuality is present in every human being and remains throughout life, taking minor importance when nursing care is directed to the elderly. Sexual health care is aimed at young people and ignores the elderlygroupthat according to the population statistics is growing. This article reflects on the physical and psychosocial factors, advantages and risks of sexuality in the elderly, and the myths of the nursing professionals regarding this topic. From the nursing care provided to this population, full and healthy sexuality s be strengthened, for which the nursing professional must have a better preparation.
