Self-care capabilities and health perception in women with and whitout preeclamsia

The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of perceived health status (PHS), socioeconomic and educational status, about the capabilities of self-care (CSC) in two groups of pregnant women with and without preeclampsia. Methodology: The design was descriptive and comparative probability sampling. The sample size was n = 96 pregnant women with and without preeclampsia, this figure is set to 100 women and 10% was added to soften the phenomenon of attrition, resulting in n = 110. The measurements included basic factors conditioning variables (education and socioeconomic status) and the filling of two scales to estimate CSC and PHS. Results: The average age was between 19 and 24 years, mean and standard deviation of each group did not
differ significantly for both variables (preeclampsia X=28, SD = 7.23; without preeclampsia X=25, SD=5.99). Over 80% of the sample had primary and secondary, 90% of women did not get paid. The perceived health status influences the capabilities of self-care in women without preeclampsia
F(54)=10.205 p=.002, adjusted R2 =.161. Conclusions: The study findings show that the CSC and the PHS are different in women with and without preeclampsia, however for PES was not statistically significant.
