Editorial Policy
Avances: Investigación en Ingeniería, is the media outlet of the Faculty of Engineering at Universidad Libre, Bogotá. Its objective is to show research results to national and international scientific and academic communities, without any profit on the part of the university or any biannual periodicity. The journal presents several contents in the fields of engineering, basic sciences, and applied statistics. The articles that are published are original in any language, preferably in Spanish or English.
According to the classification that has been established by Colciencias, the articles must be framed within one of following categories:

Scientific and technological research Article: Document that presents, in detail, the original results of completed research projects. The structure that is generally used contains four important parts: Introduction, Methodology (Materials and Methods, Experimental Part), Results, and Conclusions.

Reflection Article: Document that presents the results of a research on a specific topic from an analytical, interpretative or critical perspective by author, using original sources.

Review Article: Document that presents the results of an investigation where the results of a published or unpublished research are analyzed, systematized, and integrated into a field of science or technology, in order to account for progress and development trends. It is characterized by a careful bibliographic review of at least 50 articles.

Short Article: A short document that presents original partial results of scientific or technological research, which, due to its importance, require early dissemination.
