Treatment of Wastewater from a chemical analysis laboratory with high Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) and high turbidity with electrocoagulation technique was evaluated. A series of experiments of 32 factorial design randomized with three-factor and two levels (voltage and distance between electrodes) was applied. Removal efficiencies of COD above 60% in trials with separate electrodes at 1.0 cm and 4.0 cm were achieved. However, the removal efficiency of Total Suspended Solids (TSS) and Turbidity were not adequate, in some trials the treated sample had a higher concentration than the initial sample. Electrocoagulation as technique for wastewater treatment from chemical origin is suitable for oxidation and removal of COD, but its application may increase the SST in treated water.
